What a fabulous trip we had this year. 13 students, full of enthusiasm and fun with a great "can do attitude". Claire Lydon, Chelsie Kenna, Andrew Thompson, Elena Montgomery, Emmanuel Umeh, Daniel Hammond, Chris Bradshaw, Ian Murphy, Grace Keegan, Anna Kuntz, Dasha Kawaase Serwadda, Cathal Hughes and Sophie Brassil.
A day full of activity; starting out with some lively ice breaker games. It didn't take long for the students to "break the ice". Ian, Kasha, Anna, Grace and Chelsie stayed around in Knockree to prepare the dinner and enjoy a "gentle walk" while the remaining 8 students practically ran up the mountain. Up to Powerscourt waterfall through Crone wood and back in 2 hours. The lashing rain on the return journey did not dampen spirits.
Quick dry off and Sinead arrived with her instruments for the drum circle workshop. We got some grooves going with the djembe drums including West African beats and "skipping beats". The drum circle picked up momentum and Kasha treated us to some moves from Uganda.
Thanks to the cooks for preparing a delicious bolognese and for "thinking outside the box" when they realised we had no onions!! This Italien dish set us up for a few drinks in Johnny Foxes.
A thoroughly enjoyable and memorable trip.
Thanks to the teachers Pat Kiersey, Emer Liston, Paul Carroll, Marie Lonergan and John Martin for organising and helping out on the trip. Thanks to Cecilia for her support of this annual event.
