Dublin Amateur Luthier Society visit to DFEI
On Tuesday 2ND February 2016 members of the Dublin Amateur Luthier Society visited DFEi. The Luthier Society is a collective of Stringed Instrument Makers and enthusiasts living in the Leinster area. The aim of the visit was to share knowledge and present Society Members with an overview of DFEi's activities, particularly relating to Musical Instrument. Head of Department Dave Nicholson conducted a walk through and discussion session in both the Machine shop and workshop areas. A presentation of Guitars and Mandolins currently under construction by Level 5 and 6 Learners provided plenty of material for discussion. The evening concluded with a debate on how best to develop training in the area of Musical Instrument making and repair.
DFEi would like to thank members of the Society for the effort in visiting DFEi and their willingness to share their vast experience and Knowledge in this very specialist area of wood Manufacture. It was also great to welcome former DFEi teacher and Society Member, Jimmy Kelly back to DFEi.
