On Wednesday 7th of October 2015, the class of AC5 (Arts, Culture and history) went on a trip to visit the Dáil. When we arrived at Leinster House, we were first taken to see the Dáil in session; when the Dáil went on a break we were then taken on a tour of Leinster House. During the tour we learnt about the architecture along with the history of the building.
When the tour finished, we were then brought to the Seanad and sat in on one of the current debates on media broadcasting in Ireland. Once we left the Seanad we were taken to an AV room in which we were able to do a question and answer session with three representatives from three different political parties that work within Leinster House. Karen Gillanders, who works with Tommy Broughan (Independent), Ronan who works with Roisin Shortall and the new Social Democrats Party, and John Lohan who works with the Taoiseach Enda Kenny.
All in all it was a very enjoyable and informative experience that was genuinely worth the trip.
