DFEi staff and learners gathered in the canteen to show their support for the learners from the Sound Production courses who hosted a concert in aid of Console, the National Anti-Suicide Charity on Wednesday 30th January 2013.
With the canteen packed to capacity, the audience waited with enthusiasm to see the event unfold. The concert lasted an hour, as participants took to the stage to showcase their talent. From guitarists to singers, drummers to violinists (and through several technical difficulties) the event was a triumph, much to the organisers' relief. "The showcase is a fantastic opportunity for learners to show what they can do, it provided a little lift for the college", said Fionnuala Martin, teacher and event organiser.
The show included a diverse variety of musical genres, from 80s rock to the occasional traditional Irish song, all preformed by in-house artists from DFEi.
This event was organised as part of an assessment on the Sound Production course. Learners had to plan, organise, market, advertise, manage and administer this event from conception to completion.
