Meet DJ Norberto Loco, a present student of DFEi who has been working on the Irish scene for a couple of years now. He’s just signed up for one of the biggest challenges we’ve seen undertaken by our students, past and present: this November, Norberto will attempt to break the Guinness World Record for the most hours of consecutive DJing. Simply DJing for a living and for pleasure is “not enough” says Norberto, and he has announced that he wants to do something extraordinary with his craft.
It’s not just a test of endurance though - DJ Loco is using this staggering feat to raise money for Temple Street Children’s Hospital. Telling us that the hardest tasks so far have been to find the right venue, attract the media and to look for sponsors to help fund and prepare for the event, this intrepid DJ has been in training for the challenge for more than seven months already. He has a production company lined up to shoot a documentary about his journey on the road to this special World Record Attempt, and in August of this year, he beat the Irish record of 75 hours for the longest Marathon Club DJ set. Right now, he feels confident that the current world record can be beaten with an Olympian length session – 200 hours on the decks. The 200 hour marathon will start at 12pm on November 19th and continue for over 8 days. Everything will happen at the Underground club in Dublin’s Citi Hotel, and will be broadcast internationally on four online TV channels and over 100 radio stations. All proceeds from the event are going to Temple St Children’s Hospital, and you can find out more at this link: http://www.djloco.net/store.html
