Course Aims

This course is designed to prepare learners with the necessary qualifications to work in the security industry or to prepare for applications to work in the security industry or to prepare for application to the police, armed forces, prison service or naval service. Learners will complete modules which meet the requirements for licensing in both Door Security Procedures and Guarding Services. Throughout their training, learners will complete work experience placements with recognised security companies.

Additional Information

  • Learners on this course complete the Level 4 QQI Door Security and Guarding Skills minor awards to acquire the DSP Door Security (Licensed Premises) licence as well as the Security Guard (Static) licence
  • Learners have the option of completing their work experience in St James Hospital
  • Employers actively seek our learners for employment in the security industry environment
  • Learners will undertake Garda Vetting prior to commencing their work experience

Progression Opportunities

DFEi: Graduates may progress to the Level 6 QQI Advanced Certificate in Security Operations and Management at DFEi.
Elsewhere: Graduates are eligible to apply through the CAO and/or the Higher Education Links Scheme to a range of higher certificate and degree programmes, both at Universities and Institutes of Technology.
