Course Aims

This course is an excellent foundation for progression to media degrees. Learners will acquire highly practical skills in Television Studio Production, single Camera Production, Non-Linear Film and Video Editing while gaining knowledge of how the relationship between the producer, advertiser and the audience impact on one another through media analysis. These skills will be evidenced in a portfolio of work including film, scriptwriting and photography. Learners learn skills for the workplace.

  • Relevant Level 4 QQI Award
  • Applications are welcome from mature learners with experience in this area

Special Features

This is a practical course where the learner will develop a personal portfolio of work structured and produced to Television and Video industry standards. Learners will use professional digital cameras, editing techniques and practice using Avid Media Composer software, as well as darkroom practice and techniques

Additional Information

Learners will have portfolio material from their course work in Film, Scriptwriting, and Photography which may be used for applications to IADT and other Higher Education Institutes.


Progression Opportunities

  • On attaining a full Level 5 Award, learners from this course may progress to the Advanced Level 6 awards in TV and Digital Film at DFEi
  • Alternatively they may progress to higher education through the Higher Education Links Scheme

Career Paths
